Strollmates

"We played matchmaker and asked new mamas what their ultimate stroller would look like. a few wistful women pleaded for the unattainable. (A stroller for three with huge tires and lots of storage that folds flat? We’re not miracle workers people!) But Cupid’s arrow was able to strike more than a few targets, as we steered plenty of parents to the ride of their dreams. You’re bound to find your perfect walking partner on these pages too!”

One new mama requested “It must be good on rough terrain but also simple to fold. And reasonably priced!” and was paired up with the City Mini Single, indicating it was the easiest fold the editor had found.

Strolling in Style!

"Recently the NJ Suburban Parent product reviewers went looking for an amazing stroller that would suit an active lifestyle and grow as the family grows. We found the City Select from Baby Jogger and we highly recommend it! Here’s what our reviewer, a busy mom with three small children had to say:”

'I have the Baby Jogger City Select with Second Seat and I love it! I have been using it the past few weeks with my newborn (with the car seat adaptor) and my almost-3-year-old. This is a perfect everyday stroller because it’s narrow, light and folds up nicely. It also has a huge and accessible storage basket and very sturdy frame. It has a smooth ride and is very easy to use.'

The City Select has unparalleled ability to change as the baby grows, and as the family expands! It can be easily adapted for use by newborns (with its Bassinet Kit), can work in combination with many popular car seat brands, and also accommodates one or two regular seats. The seats can be positioned singly or doubly, forward or rear-facing or even one facing each way (so the kids can “talk”). For families with a third child, a Glider Board can be attached so a pre-schooler can hang on for a standing ride. In all, there are 16 different possible seating arrangements for this unique baby stroller!"

HonestBaby Knows Best: Baby Jogger Summit XC

"... And so, on one sunny Saturday morning, my Baby Jogger Summit XC arrived at my front door, ready for action. The moment I took my first running steps with the Summit XC, I immediately felt regret—regret that I hadn’t gotten this stroller sooner!!!! Never in a million years did I think pushing a jogging stroller could be this easy. And for many reasons, the Baby Jogger has far surpassed my expectations.

First off, don’t be tricked by the name, “Baby Jogger”—This stroller is a fantastic multi-purpose stroller than can be used for walks around your neighborhood, in the city, as well as for running and jogging. No matter where I take it, my jogger always feels completely stable. The shocks are amazing because they are on every stroller wheel (as opposed to [similar joggers] that [have] only rear wheel suspension). I’m able to push it over grass, dirt, bumps, sidewalks, and I’m even able to lock the front wheel into a fixed position for an even more steady ride over rough terrain. All of this, while my son rides relaxed and at ease.  ..."

The City Mini was selected as Best Urban Stroller in the 2011 Babble Best Awards

"While any lightweight or umbrella stroller is ideal for an urban setting, bumpy, uneven sidewalks require a stroller that can handle rough terrain, and apartment living calls for a super-compact stroller that you can easily haul up five flights of steps. When we first read reviews of the City Mini, we found the vast majority of users were unhappy that their baby slouched in the unsupportive seat. However, the new 2011 seat fixed the problem with a stronger back. Plus, the stroller is maneuverable, handles even the most broken up of sidewalks and breaks down with one hand — seriously! Plus, it has a fantastic carrying strap for urbanites who regularly travel up and down subway or apartment steps. (We carried it on our shoulder without a problem.)"

Babble.com Best 2010 Double Strollers

The editors at Babble.com thoroughly tested and reviewed the double strollers in the market for 2010. Baby Jogger is honored to receive a "Best Overall" notation for the City Select in this double stroller round up story.

"Double strollers are the kind of products bought out of sheer necessity (don’t they just look overwhelming?), yet we can honestly say that this Baby Jogger City Select had us wishing for two under two, just for an excuse to use it on a daily basis. It combines almost everything that the best strollers have: It’s narrow enough for city streets yet has wheels to handle rough terrain. It’s incredibly easy to set up, break down and store. It maneuvers like butter and, most impressively, there are 16 different seating arrangements for any age combination. The stadium-seating alone is one of our favorite parts of the stroller’s design because it’s more visually stimulating for baby number two, plus it’s not quite as long as the typical tandem stroller. And when we realized we could easily (key word: easily) twist and turn one or both kids any way we wanted, we were sold. If you’re having twins, this is the only luxury stroller we tested that could accommodate two car seats at once, making it perfect for newborns...."

Best City Strollers for Two 2010

"The Baby Jogger City Select, my current daily double, also starts as a single with a reversible seat, but it goes a bit further as a double. It can take 2 car seats, 2 bassinets or 2 full sized seats or many combinations of those options. Each seat holds up to 45 pounds, reclines, has a full sized, generous canopy, that can be raised to offer more headroom for taller riders and its own optional rain cover. It is a bit long and heavy as a double, but you can fold it with at least one seat in place and it is super easy to take any part on or off. Pushing 1 handed, fully loaded isn’t the easiest, but it can be done. There are so many options, especially for twins, that the the extra weight is worth it...

...The Baby Jogger City Mini Double weighs about 27 pounds and has Baby Jogger’s amazing quick fold technology. It won’t fold up as small as an umbrella stroller, but it’s fairly small for such a nice double. It’s easy to store or pop in and out of a car. It feels even lighter than it is because it’s so easy to manage. The canopies are amazing, it’s suitable for a newborn plus you do have the option of using one car seat. It has front wheel suspension and will take you from sidewalk to park. It’s not as cushy as an air-filled tire double, but the push is still great and maneuverability is too. Baby Joggers are great for taller children as is the 100 pound weight limit for the stroller. Baby Jogger has a very wide variety of accessories for its strollers, so you can easily customize your stroller to your needs."

Baby Jogger City Select Stroller Makes Light Work Out of Two Kids

"Baby Jogger has an amazing solution with the incredibly versatile City Select stroller, which has more configurations and options than any stroller I've ever seen.

As a single stroller, the City Select is everything a stroller should be. Lightweight, easy to fold and unfold, great to look at. It's incredibly solid, which makes it a pleasure to push. I used it from a remote parking lot at Golden Gardens, through the gravel and an akward little trail under a bridge, and it handled it like a champ. The recline and sunshade are easy to use and the handbrake is not only simple to operate (not requiring your toes, which in my case are often in sandals), but it puts a hard stop on both back wheels. You can fold it all as one piece, but if you need to cram the stroller in to a very full car you can easily remove the seat and back wheels, making it almost completely flat. I have been able to put it in my SUV in the most crammed of situations...

...As far as versatility, I just can't think of a down side to this stroller. I have a friend with two small children who has a double stroller, a single full-size stroller, and an umbrella stroller. If she's caught with the wrong one for the situation, it makes her life very hard. With the City Select you have everything you need. A double stroller compact enough for even the busiest day at Pike Place, sturdy enough for gravel or sand at any of Seattle's parks or beaches, able to handle the fast pace of Greenlake. The seats have a weight limit of 45lbs, which will take many kids well into their fourth year. Want to brave the crowds at the Bite without the extra length of the second seat? Simply remove it, wear your second baby (or have daddy do it!) and you have a great single stroller in seconds.

Baby Jogger went above and beyond in their design of the City Select. It really does nearly everything you could ask of it - although probably not your dishes or laundry - and it does it with ease, simplicity, and beauty..."

Squeals on Wheels

"Baby Jogger offers high-performance jogging stroller and a stroller/jogger hybrid (the Summit XC). But it’s the handy quick-fold technology that put these wheels on the map. Kids will sit tight in this easy to use stroller

"Baby Jogger’s City Micro Single is made for maneuverability. It’s not just its 360-degree swivel front wheel. It’s the ease with which the stroller folds up (Baby Jogger’s “quick-fold technology” allows parents to fold the stroller with just a single pull); the versatile nature of its “universal accessory mounting bracket,” which allows you to accessorize the stroller… …and it’s the fact that the stroller takes about three minutes to assemble – anti disassemble for that matter. Combined, all of these features make it a handy item for travel, be it through the airport, on a cruise or just strolling in the city…”

Road Test - See Mommy Run

"Traded in your gym membership for a mommy-and-me class? Jogging with baby in tow might be your best get-back-in-shape option. Our review panel rounded up their favorite joggers so you can hit the ground running.

These hard-working strollers are perfect for a jog around the block or a speed walk over less-than-even terrain..

A Parent’s Perspective: The F.I.T. is perfect for my lifestyle. It’s lightweight for a jogger, easy to use and attractive. When I read the description of this stroller I knew it was the perfect one for me. I love jogging the sidewalks around our neighborhood but I’m definitely not a marathon runner. This stroller is designed for just that – jogging to get in shape, not to win an Olympic medal. I love the high quality of all Baby Jogger’s strollers, and this one is no exception. My 2-year old daughter loves riding in the cushy seat and I love the ease of the push. I’m definitely a fan of the F.I.T.!

Bonus: Accessorizing your jogger is a breeze with the universal accessory mounting bracket."

Bike Trailer + Jogger = Baby Jogger Switchback Hybrid!

"Getting outside is a daily requirement for sanity in our house, and one of our favorite summertime activities is to hop on our tandem bike, load the kids in the bike trailer and ride down to the beach. We’ve tried out a handful of trailers over the years, but none has been as impressive as the Baby Jogger Switchback Hybrid.

The Switchback is not only an incredible bike trailer, it also transitions quickly and easily into a jogging stroller. There are other bike trailers on the market that can do this, but most require you to purchase a conversation kit separately ($$!), require tools and time to switch back and forth between modes and don’t offer a way to store the extra pieces for the other mode on the trailer itself. The Baby Jogger Switchback Hybrid does all of this. And more...

...With the competition, you can often have a bike trailer or a jogging stroller. But with the Baby Jogger Switchback, you have both. All the time. No tools required and just minutes to convert from one to the other. Tomorrow morning we’re going to ride our tandem bike with the Switchback down to the farmer’s market, lock up the tandem, quickly convert the Switchback to a stroller and linger at the fruit and veggie stands. Want to join us?"

Pregnancy & Newborn.com - June 2009

"Baby Jogger's already well-known City series has a new addition: The City Micro.

Not only is this little bugger adorable, it weighs in at under 17 pounds! It's the first umbrella stroller to make its way into the Baby Jogger fleet, but just because it's petite, doesn't mean it's not powerful!

The ergonomic, lightweight Micro re-defines the traditional compact stroller, yet maintains all the style and safety standards you’d expect from Baby Jogger. It's equipped with standard features usually found outside of its class, including front wheel suspension, 8” rear wheels and a 6” lockable swivel front wheel on sealed ball bearings, an adjustable sun canopy with clear view window, and an adjustable reclining seat.... (As with all of Baby Jogger's "City" strollers, the Micro is made for strolling only, not jogging.)"

"The Baby Jogger City Elite stroller isn’t meant for jogging, but it sure handles everything we could throw at it in New York City. I love the sporty, unisex Red Sport color that’s upbeat but not too flashy. It reminded me of a British racecar with the wide, white stripe down the middle.

The City Elite came out of the box in five pieces and was assembled in under five minutes. I just snapped on the three wheels and the sun shade and we were ready for a walk. We assemble a lot of strollers and really love it when the company does the work for us. We always read the instructions for these reviews, but could have figured it out if they weren’t handy…"

"We asked friends, family and several stroller experts to tell us the best all around double stroller for an active family on the go. We wanted lightweight, versatile, easy to push and most important - easy to fold in a hurry! ....

… The winner? Baby Jogger's City Mini Double did all we asked and more. I only wish I'd found this stroller a litter earlier on. When it comes to a double stroller for us now, it really is the City Mini Double... or nothing! The Baby Jogger City Mini is an absolute pleasure to push. Even loaded with my brawny 4 year old and 1 year old toddler, the stroller spins nimbly and does not feel heavy to steer. This was probably the first thing I noticed about the City Mini, when compared with other doubles that can be cumbersome or weighty. The stroller itself is very lightweight, with locking, quick release stroller wheels. The wheels are not air filled - they are a much lighter weight EVA tire, but this is not as issue for the push/ride as the stroller has an excellent suspension system and the wheels have sealed bearings that keep the ride super smooth, even on bumpy pavement…"

Bicycling Magazine – July 2008

Hook ‘Em Young – Your kids might not be old enough to pedal, but these five trailers let them come along on the ride.

“Baby Jogger Switchback – The Cadillac of the trailer world, the Switchback has a cushy double seat and there’s lots of legroom. The adjustable 5-point safety harness with padded straps hold one or two kids securely and comfortably. Tinted side windows open for increased ventilation and a wind/rain window and bug screen protect your child. It converts easily, tool-free, to a jogger. A direct pull V-brake stops the trailer in jogging mode via a hand lever on the push bar. The Switchback collapses quickly: just pull two handles on each side of the trailer. Opening it is just as easy…”

Pregnancy Magazine – June 2008

American Baby – June 2008

“Baby Jogger’s very easy-to-maneuver Double City Mini is smaller than any other double jogger out there and it’s surprisingly simple to fold.”

Please note that the City Mini Double is not a jogging stroller.  Baby Jogger does not recommend this stroller for exercise activities despite the reviewer’s statement.

OC Family Magazine – May 2008

“Slimmed down and sexy, the City Mini, released in 2007, combined many of the features that moms love about the Baby Jogger models—dependability with the patented, quick-fold technology—in a lightweight package.”

Parents Magazine – May 2008

“Now that the weather’s warm, go outside with your baby and get moving! We’ve pulled together the gear and accessories you need for a fun (and totally safe) day in the sun….You don’t have to be a marathon mom to love the super durable frame and 20” wheels on the Performance Single jogger by Baby Jogger.”

Baby Couture – Spring 2008

“If you want value for your money in a stroller, look no further than the City Elite. Keep up with the metropolis and its fast-paced lifestyle with your little uptowner in style, and on three-wheels. The latest from the Baby Jogger’s City Series collection, this chic item is a fine choice for steering through the urban walkways (and practically any terrain, for that matter), with your child viewing the sights comfortably in front. Equipped with their patented Quick-Fold Technology for storage convenience, it is available in single and double sizes—with padded reclining seats, large adjustable canopies for sun protection, and raised kickers for the tiny feet (very useful when they are sleeping). Its handlebar console, seat back storage compartment and storage basket under the seat keep all the extra load out of your busy pushing hands, while the accessory mounting bracket specially designed to hold Baby Jogger accessories—foot muff, child tray, car seat adaptor and drink holster, among others—is built to cater to your other strolling needs.  This durable rider can also carry up to 75 lbs, but do resist the temptation to try it on yourself (or the hubby) to see how much weight this baby can really take – we haven’t road tested it that far.”

The Boca Raton Observer – January 2008

“The ATS stands out as a stylish urban stroller that can easily traverse any city sidewalk or cruise a busy mall.  The ATS features a padded reclining seat for naps on the go, an integrated suspension system to absorb bumps, and a multi-position sun canopy with side vents.”

The Family Groove – December 2007

“Recently, Baby Jogger came out with a gorgeous array of new strollers for 2008 that I LOVE: the City Elite, the City Classic and the City Mini. My favorite of the bunch is the City Mini, which is slimmer, lightweight (only 16.8 lbs.) and more maneuverable than the classic City Series stroller. Though made by Baby Jogger, the City Mini is meant to be used as an "everyday" stroller. The "coupe" to the City Series "sedan," it builds upon the same features that make the City Series stroller a proverbial favorite among parents, but in a smaller, more compact package. Though it was designed with urban parents in mind (those who need a high-quality, durable stroller that will both easily maneuver city streets while at the same time not take up a third of their apartment), it's equally appropriate for suburban parents as well—especially ones like me who don't have much garage space to spare.”

Fit Pregnancy Magazine – August/September 2007

“Get your body back with baby – When you’re a new mom, it’s hard to find time to exercise. A jogging stroller allows you to work out while hanging out with your baby. In 1984 Baby Jogger introduced its first model; unlike regular strollers, it could handle long distances and rough terrain. Since then, the original has been improved by both Baby Jogger and many other companies.”

American Baby

American Baby – November 2007

“Double Duty – Don’t shy away from side-by-side double strollers out of concern that they won’t go through a door; none [listed below] is wider than a wheelchair, so all fit through standard entrances. They fold flatter than front-to-back models, making them easy to store and travel with. Kids ride next to each other, which has its pros and cons; a definite plus is that you can easily reach them both….Baby Jogger’s City Mini Double turns on a dime and folds in a jiffy.”

H2O Magazine

H2O Magazine – July/August 2007

“The Baby Jogger Company, inventor of the original three wheeled jogger, has introduced an innovative hybrid stroller/jogger – the All Terrain Swivel (ATS). The ATS incorporates a lockable swivel front wheel, effortless compact folding capabilities with a storage latch and an absorbent Air Glide Suspension System, creating a superior multi-faceted stroller for today’s adventures seeking and city dwelling parents.

“The 12-inch front swivel front wheel turns on a dime for ultimate maneuverability and then locks into place with the touch of a button for a serious run. The large 16-inch rear wheels are ideal for running. For convenience, the ATS comes with a soft console that includes a secure zippered pouch for keys and/or a cell phone, and two drink holders.  The ATS features a padded reclining seat for naps on the go, an integrated suspension system to absorb bumps, and a multi-position sun canopy with side vents.

“The ATS is available in combinations of navy/silver and red/silver, both with reflective stitching for maximum road safety.”

NY Times

New York Times Review – August 2007

“This hybrid has a well designed conversion system, which changed from bicycle trailer to running stroller in less than a minute.”

Baby Couture Magazine – Summer 2007

“The Baby Jogger Performance Series Double (dubbed “The Ultimate High Performance Stroller”) has a 150-lb capacity designed to seat two passengers of the same or varying sizes. True to the Baby Jogger name, it is ideal for long-distance running on various surfaces. The 20-inch front and rear wheels minimize rolling resistance and allow you to cover more distance with less effort, and frankly, these wheels look mighty fine. With its sound aerodynamic structure and shock-absorption system, you can bet that your little one’s bottoms are tucked in for a smooth ride, no matter what terrain may be. Safety-wise, the increased braking power of its new Direct-pull V-brake, coupled with a reliable parking rake, offer you more control over your kids’ security. A 5-point safety harness holds the little passengers in place. Moreover, each cushy, padded seat is fitted with a canopy for protection against harmful rays of the sun and other elements, and to ensure your children’s comfort, the seats can be reclined independently.”

Runner’s World – July 2007

“While there are several convertible jogger/trailers out there, I’ve never seen one that folded as easily as the Switchback. A simple lift of soft handles on either side of the carriage collapsed it. Thanks to a patent-pending storage system, the front fork and tow bar were always on hand and easy to switch between trailer and jogger. When not in use, the 16-inch front wheel (the rear tires are 20 inches) tucked into the rear pocket. Since it’s a double, the Switchback had plenty of room for my twins, but with more than 50 pounds onboard, I appreciated the V-brake on the adjustable-height handlebars.”

MommyStyle, Disney – June 2007

“I am a big fan of Baby Jogger's City Series line. We have a single that we have been using for years with my oldest. Of course, with two kids now we had to up the ante and get a double stroller.

“My oldest is three and a half but we go to the beach most weekends every summer. And although my son likes to walk, he isn't about to walk the distances we do in the summer. We like to take nice long walks to the bay and to the playground, and I could just see getting two miles out to the playground and his asking to be carried home.
“So we're all in with the Baby Jogger City Series double. And I love it about as much as I love the single….Otherwise, as my brother in law recently stated, it rides like a knife cuts through butter - so smooth you actually find yourself smiling to push it. My husband loves that this monster of a stroller can actually be pushed and steered with one hand and if you think about it, a double stroller, two kids, one hand? That's pretty nice.

“Other perks are similar to those of the single an adjustable handle (great for a short and a tall parent as you can raise or lower it), the swivel lock front wheels and a nice big basket on the bottom. They also updated the shades these shades pull all the way down to virtually shield almost all of the baby and most of my 3 year old.

“It folds very easily too. I hate when I spend half an hour trying to figure out straps and latches to get a stroller to fold.”

American Baby – June 2007

“City Slicker – Use Baby Jogger’s City stroller for darting around town; we’re wowed by its quick fold.”

Child Magazine – June 2007

“Baby Jogger’s Tailwind Quick-Fold trailer makes maneuvering a child in and out of the seat between cycling trips a lot easier.”

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch April 2, 2007

“The Baby Jogger Co. has just released the new Switchback, a baby jogger and bike trailer in one. The built-in conversion kit means no special tools are required when switching from bike trailer mode to jogging stroller. It’s also designed with Baby Jogger’s one-step quick-fold technology.”

Googababy.com – April 2007

“Out of all the jogging strollers we’ve tested out recently the Q-Series is our favorite. It looks and feels sturdy and solid, but is light enough that anyone can easily lift it into the car trunk. It has, by far, the most thrilling convenient one-step folding mechanism we’ve seen, allowing you to hold your baby with one hand while folding up with the other. It handles smoothly, with pneumatic 16” tires that take bumps and curbs easily. We’ve tested it while walking and jogging on various surfaces including paved, gravel and bumpy dirt paths. The Q-Series handles all of it extremely well. In short, it has everything you’d expect from a great jogging stroller; after all, this is the company that invented them!”

Find It! – 2007
